Privacy Policy

StudioKey is an app for finding recording studios and booking time in them. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we hold it, who else can see it, and how to get it deleted. It covers the StudioKey mobile app and this website.

What we collect

Everything below is data you give us or create by using the app. We do not buy data about you, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

DataWhy we hold it
Email address, name, username, profile photo, bioTo create and identify your account and show you to other users
Bookings — studio, date, time, duration, price, your notesTo run the booking and show it to you and the studio
Sessions and uploaded files, including audioTo deliver your recordings back to you
Messages you send other usersTo deliver them, and show whether they were read
Posts, audio, images, likes, comments, followsTo operate the social parts of the app
Events you create or RSVP toTo manage attendance
Notifications and your notification settingsTo send only what you asked for
Privacy and display preferencesTo honour your choices about who sees your profile and history

If you sign in with Google or Apple

We receive your email address and name from that provider so we can create your account. We never receive your password. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address, and that is fine — everything works the same way.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your location, contacts, or advertising identifiers. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics trackers. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, for any purpose.

Who else can see your data

Other people using StudioKey

Your profile, posts, and comments are visible to other users, subject to the privacy settings in the app. When you book a session, the studio you booked with can see your name, contact details, and the booking, because they need those to do the work.

Companies that run parts of the service

We use a small number of providers who process data strictly on our instructions:

Legal requests

We will disclose data if the law genuinely requires it, or to protect someone's safety. If we can lawfully tell you it happened, we will.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is open. Delete your account and we remove your profile, posts, messages, and uploaded files. Booking and payment records may be kept longer where tax or accounting law requires it, and backups may take up to 30 days to age out.

Your choices

If you are in the UK, EU, or California, you have additional rights over your data, including the right to object to processing and to complain to your local regulator. The rights above are extended to everyone regardless of where you live.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our hosting provider, and access to the database is restricted by row-level security so users can only read what they are entitled to. No system is perfect. If we ever discover a breach affecting your data, we will tell you.

Children

StudioKey is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
